Frankie Teardrop is the sixth track of 1977 album by the New York group Suicide. On stage the turntable runs the 10 minutes and 26 seconds of this song, which has been called one of the most chilling songs in rock history:
[...] The voice of an alienated AlanVega tells, through whispers and piercing cries, the history of worker Frankie that at some point explodes and kills his wife and son before committing suicide. It's an indictment against the consumer society that destroys the individual [...].
Ballard, Burroughs, Bacon, Cronenberg, Lynch, have emerged during the creation of the performance that revolves around this song.
The Oblique Strategies helped the creation , a card system invented by Brian Eno in the seventies to convey the creation of works of art. The first card drawn was: be dirty.
The result is a nocturne miniature dance, an environment where the body of the performer is sacrificed and transfigured. piloted by telluric forces and ancestral vibrations.
TRACK 6 is the first part of the new project ALBUM, which starts from a very simple basic concept: Doing a choreography of the entire Suicide album, as if it was music for ballet, a Swan Lake where the sound material is instead made by a New York punk duo. The seven tracks have a dramaturgy well defined, a fictional universe in which the choreography communicates to tearing and associations.
The pick up of an old record player on stage, runs through the A side, turn the disc and then the B side. The turntable is the inexorable force that drives the body and makes him cross the seven tracks of the album. seven environments with a specific color, seven rooms that create a n hypnotic and irresistible universe.
